MotoGP, Quartararo: "There are things that go in one ear and come out of the other"

"I crashed because of the hard Michelin: it wasn't in temperature. My ankle hurts a little. Marquez says that only I can lose this world championship? I don't think about these things."

MotoGP: Quartararo:

A big crash did not slow down Fabio Quartararo who once back in the saddle finished half-a-second ahead of Jack Miller anyway, confirming that, as expected, his Yamaha M1 also works well at Silverstone.

The crash was completely Fabio's mistake, or rather a choice shared with the team: the hard Michelin, with just over 20° on the asphalt, did not work, as expected, and the French rider was lucky to get away with a simple sprain.

“I twisted my ankle but now it's okay, when I'm on the bike I don't feel pain - explained Fabio, who confirmed the wrong choice of tire - I had a hard tire that doesn't work with these temperatures. It was important immediately after the crash to put on the medium and do some good fast laps right away. I feel good for tomorrow”.

The current points leader did manage to get off the bike before the sudden loss of grip at the rear turned into a high-side…

“Yes, I left the bike at the right time, otherwise it would have been a high-side. It would have thrown me high and it would have been worse, I was very lucky today. At the same time I shouldn’t have crashed, but luckily, I didn't have any serious problems. To be honest it was good to get back on track right away instead of stopping at the medical centre, so I didn't even have time to think about it. Crashing is part of the game, and today I was not at the limit but it was a mistake to try the hard tire. It was a bit risky. However, I would like this to be a normal weekend: tomorrow my ankle will still hurt a little, but it's nothing serious. "

Fabio's crash might have been impressive for the dynamics, given how the bike, spinning, hit him on the ankle, but Marquez losing the front at 270 km/h was no less impressive.

"The point where Marquez crashed today is really fast - confirmed Quartararo, who rightly observed - and you saw how far the bike went ... It's a dangerous point but luckily there are corners like this now in few circuits. There is the one at the Red Bull Ring, which should be changed, and perhaps the Corkscrew of Aragon, Misano instead is OK and also Valencia. I don't think there are many tracks with dangerous curves”.

Confident and calm, Fabio did not want to comment on Marquez’s comment that only he can lose this world championship…

"These are things that go in one ear and come out of the other", was his comment.
