The young Spanish Suzuki rider finished a great race that literally saw fire and flames, finishing second behind Jorge Martin's Ducati. Joan thus gained valuable points and is now third in the championship standings 51 points behind Fabio Quartararo.

"Yes, I am happy with the work done by the team - the Spanish rider, who has always been on the podium in the last two races, replied with a smile - I gave my best in the race but Jorge Martin had more. I immediately found the right feeling with the bike, came close to the podium but today it was not enough ".

What do you think of the race, what was it like chasing Martin?

"I knew that in this race he would be strong, like in Qatar, he could manage the race perfectly because he was able to manage the tires to push until the end. I also tried as long as I could, but at the end of the race I continued to losing ground. Overall I am very proud of the team's work, the holeshot device was what we needed to compete on an equal footing with the other teams. "

You have always been strong even without the device, how much effect will this have now for the future of Suzuki?

"I don't think of it as a real advantage, but more as a chance to compete on equal terms with our opponents. At the beginning we were not sure whether to use it or not in the race, on the other hand the lowering device is still in its early stages of development and there will certainly still be time to improve it further, but in the end, we used it and I am already very happy with the results. "

Did the device have a major impact in this race? Do you think you would have achieved the same results without it?

"I don't know if it had a big impact but being able to start in the same conditions as the other riders certainly made a difference, so no, probably without it I wouldn't have made it to the podium."

Was it easy to adapt to it?

"That's exactly why I wanted to try it yesterday during qualifying, but in the end using it was easy, when something gives you a noticeable advantage, you are naturally inclined to use it."

In the future, in view of the clear leap forward in terms of performance given by the new device, do you think Suzuki needs to be more responsive in technical advancements to keep up with other manufacturers?

"I don't think Suzuki should copy Ducati, but in this case, we had to chase them. I am very satisfied with the results of the development team."

The next race will take place on the same track, and the result could change, what do you think?

"There are a lot of variables to consider when running twice on the same track, so yes, there are likely to be surprises in the coming weekend, however it is true that we now have more data to work on with the device, to further refine the bike for the next race. "

This result also allowed you to overtake Bagnaia in the standings…

"Getting on the podium is important but the fundamental thing was the leap forward in terms of performance, now I feel much more competitive thanks also to the holeshot".

This track favoured riders who brake very hard, and you are one of them, is this proof that technology aside, does the rider still make a difference?

"In reality, the strange thing is that our bike has never been strong in acceleration, so it is certainly another element that contributed to today's result."

A lot of riders complained about the track being dangerous, with the accident between Pedrosa and Savadori's bike they were right.

"We have been talking about it in safety commission for days, there are some blind spots and especially in turn 3 crashing can be dangerous, as happened today to Savadori, the track must certainly be revised and made safe."
