MotoGP, Saudi prince wants Valentino’s VR46 for 150 million Euros

Sponsoring the MotoGP team would only be the first step: the merchandising company, teams, and Academy could be sold too

MotoGP: Saudi prince wants Valentino’s VR46 for 150 million Euros

There’s recently been lots of talk of the agreement between VR46 and Tanal Entrtainment Spotrt and Media, the holding company of Saudi prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al Saud. The partnership to enter the MotoGP next year with Valentino Rossi’s team has been official for some time now, but many details haven't yet been revealed, although they should be out shortly in a conference held by the prince, even if we still don't know the date.

It’ll certainly be an important collaboration, and Il Sole 24 Ore  has come to know of some figures, because the sponsorship should be bringing 100 million Euros to the coffers of the VR46, 20 per year from 2022 to 2026. A high-level project,  but this doesn’t end here.

The most important indiscretion, in fact, concerns the future of the Doctor’s company, the VR46. A company that deals with merchandising, but also with the Riders Academy and the teams in the MotoGP, Moto2, and CIV: the Saudi prince would like to buy it all. Numbers were also thrown around in this case regarding what it was all worth, with talk of 150 million Euros for the possible sale. Just to be clear, Valentino would still remain involved in the project, because his name would be the added value of the entire agreement.

All of this must, of course, fall within the Saudi Vision 2030 project, created to reduce Saudi Arabia’s dependence on oil, moving towards a greener economy that involves sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, tourism and obviously motorsport. In the latter case, there’s no better name than Rossi to join together with, and a structure like the one he created is definitely tempting for the Saudi prince.
