MotoGP, Rossi: “Dall’Igna wants me in Ducati? I’m glad, but I don’t know.”

“It’ll all depend on the next few weeks. The VR46 team bikes will be announced before Assen. The favored at the Sachsenring is Marquez.”

MotoGP: Rossi: “Dall’Igna wants me in Ducati? I’m glad, but I don’t know.”

Today they announced that the Gresini team will race with Ducati for the next two years. Something that was expected, just like the fact that Valentino’s team will also be red. But, in this case, there’s no official news yet, but it's expected shortly. Rossi himself confirmed it: “I think you’ll know something for sure after the Sachsenring GP and before the one in Assen. Just a few more days.”

If there’s no doubt about the bike, there is some about the rider who’ll be joining Luca Marini.

Nothing has been decided yet, but we’d like to continue with one of our Academy riders,” the Doctor explained. “Bezzecchi is at the top of the list, but we’ll have to see how the next races go and understand what to do for him. First we’ll know which bike we’ll use, then the rider.

What if there were a turn of events? In an interview with us, Dall’Igna stated that he would have no problem entrusting one of his bikes to Valentino. Would it really be possible for him to end his career outside of Yamaha?

First of all, I’m very pleased that Dall’Igna said these words but, honestly, I don’t know at the moment,” was Rossi’s answer. “We’ll have to see a lot of things, how things will evolve in the coming weeks.

Because Rossi has always said that his future depends on the results and, up to now, they haven’t been good. The summer break is the moment in which he’ll make a decision, and there are only two GPs left now.

They’ll be two very important races, because the results are essential” he pointed out. “I want more, to have some good races. Assen is definitely a fantastic track that I like very much. It’ll be a good opportunity to get a positive result, and it’s nice that it's right before the break. But we first need to think about this race.”

The Sachsenring is a very unique circuit.

It’s always very interesting to race in Germany. It’s difficult to be fast on this circuit,” Valentino commented. “Also, we’ll have to face high temperatures, and I don’t remember it ever being this hot. Sure, the tires will be important, but it’s impossible to know in advance how they’ll behave.”

There’s also another variable: Marquez.

I’d say that he’s the favored, because he’s always won in recent years, and this is one of his favorite tracks. We’ll just need to understand how he’ll be physically,” is the Doctor’s prediction. “Others? I’d say the ones who are going strong right now… Quartararo, Oliveira, Bagnaia, Miller, and even Vinales, who had a good race the last time we were here. But two years have passed, and it’s difficult.”
