As time goes by, all that remains to do is to settle for what you’ve got. This would seem to be the case when it comes to Franco Morbidelli. The Italo-Brazilian from Tavullia puts his talent and wrist on the line every race, it is just a pity that the bike is not up to the challenge…

At Barcelona, the Petronas rider had to limit the damage, so much so that he finished in ninth place which left a bitter taste in the mouth. Obviously he tries to force a smile, to hide his bad mood, but it is clear that Franco is anything but happy to find himself in such a situation.

“This race was a battle - he said - I wanted to show my potential, trying to be consistent, even if against the others it was complicated. In the race my speed was not crazy, but at times it was still good, since the sensations were not bad. Considering the performance of one year ago, the performance was more or less the same, although this time I was a second slower ”.

Meanwhile, tomorrow will be the time to get back on track for testing…

"For tomorrow we have nothing particularly new to try, in fact I won’t do many laps".

Morbidelli cuts short on this particular subject, preferring to talk about the race…

“I have to be happy with the race, even if when I lack top speed it becomes virtually impossible to have any ambitions of fighting. I couldn't do any more than that, as this ninth position was the best. I suffer on the straight and I have to try to make the most of the curves. Maybe, before the race, I hope something will happen, since hope is the last to die, but then after the GP such a track will bring you back to normal. In the end, finishing in the top ten is not bad ”.

The problems are not lacking and Franco highlights them…

“When you have little power and the others can make the most of their advantage over you, especially in the first few laps, you find yourself losing a lot of positions in acceleration. Today, in just one lap, three of them passed me. I lost so many positions and it's unsettling to lose them in such a short time, but I couldn't do otherwise ”.

The fact is that Morbidelli is one of those who does not intend to throw in the towel…

"I rely on my desire to be a professional, on my part there is the will to train and get on track in Germany. I remain a professional and therefore I do not intend to give up in this situation ”.

He had one final thing to say about what went on today in Moto3…

“In Moto3 by now everyone is on the same level and there are so many madmen in the group, so much so that the stewards panel must focus on this category to tackle these extreme and dangerous moves, as well as the various slowdowns. These are very dangerous and we have seen what can happen. These guys give everything they have, even more, within the limits of what the regulation is and as mentioned the stewards panel must work to prevent all this ".
