Fabio Quartararo has also started off on the right foot in Barcelona and he finished the first day of practice with the 3rd quickest time and a smile on his face. The Frenchman and the M1 found an excellent harmony, which was confirmed by the stopwatch. “I have a very good pace and I'm fast on the flying lap too” was his summary of the day’s proceedings.

Despite this, the Yamaha rider knows he can still improve.

"I think I still have a bit of margin - he declared - because there are two corners where I lose a lot. I'll have to work on the electronics and my riding style in those points ".

The Montmelò asphalt, however, has also shown that it does not have particularly good grip…

“The grip is not that good, especially at turn 10 - which has been redesigned - I think the new design is better, more like the old circuit style, but at that point I don't have great confidence with the front, it moves around a lot ".

Another point to focus on will be the choice of the rear tyre, because both Morbidelli and Oliveira showed that the hard works well.

"It's an option to take into consideration, it was already working well in Portimao - he recalled - With the medium you can do the race, but from what I saw with Franco and Miguel the hard one seems to offer more consistency and stability. It could be interesting and I'll definitely try it tomorrow afternoon ”.

As at Mugello, there is also a long straight at Barcelona where the Ducatis will have an advantage and a good start will be a priority.

“In Italy it was easier to overtake the Ducatis in the changes of direction, while here it will certainly be more complicated,” noted the Frenchman.
