MotoGP: Bagnaia wants a scrap with Quartararo to take revenge for Motegi 2018

The first round at Mugello might have gone to Quartararo, but Bagnaia has prepared carefully for the race and knows he has some cards to play. The Ducati rider congratulated his opponent, "Fabio did an extraordinary job and set a time that was even difficult to think about," he said, but the only thing that matters is tomorrow. On paper it looks like it will be a battle between the two of them and that's what Pecco hopes for.

"I hope there will be only the two of us, otherwise there would be too many - he said - Looking at FP4 I would say there could be 4 or 5 riders fighting for the victory, but I think I am a bit faster with used tyres. I would really like to fight Fabio, so then I could take revenge for the 2018 Motegi GP" which the Frenchman won before being disqualified for uneven tyre pressure.

Today was marked by Dupasquier's terrible accident, what does a rider think at that moment?

“First of all I want to cross my fingers so that everything goes for the best. You have to concentrate only on riding, but it is not easy, in fact in the first two laps of FP4 I realized that I was not doing that so much. Seeing the medical helicopter land on the track is not nice, but this is also our sport ".

Moving on to qualifying, how did it go?

“I am happy with this front row and I think there will be a great battle tomorrow. In the end the Ducati and the Yamaha are the same on this circuit: we are faster in the first and last sectors and they are faster in the two middle sections, it is a balanced situation. Tomorrow I will try not to let Quartararo get away if he tries to escape, but first we will have to decide which tyres to use. At the rear I think everyone will use the medium, but that compound on the front is a bit too soft, unless the temperatures drop, and the hard is too stiff. "

Today there was a lot of talk about Marquez's strategy of following Vinales like a shadow in Q1 to get a tow.

“It's strange to see such a thing in MotoGP, but it's not my job to judge certain things. I prefer to talk about my qualifying.”

You too, however, had a lot of riders hot on your heels…

“When I have someone following me in free practice, I don't worry about it, I keep pushing, it's like I'm in the race in front of someone else, you can learn. But today, on my first exit, I turned around and had 6 riders behind me, the same on my second, I closed the throttle but no one overtook me. I don't think it's correct or safe behaviour, we MotoGP riders should set an example for the youngest. We have already talked about it in the Safety Commission and we will do it again. As for me, since Moto3 I prefer to ride alone, it gives me extra motivation ”.
