SBK, Rea over the moon to have joined the 100-Club together with Rossi and Agostini

“I grew up in the mud of motocross, racing in World Superbike was a crazy leap, but it's cool to be with these champions. The dedication is for all the sacrifices my parents made "

SBK: Rea over the moon to have joined the 100-Club together with Rossi and Agostini

Johnny Rea reaches the one hundred club and conquers the Motorland circuit. The multiple WSBK champion could not have imagined a better Saturday, when after clinching the pole in the morning he decided to repeat the feat in the race, dominating from the first to the last lap.

The Northern Irishman, Saturday’s undisputed protagonist at Aragon, could not have asked for more, and his start of the season was a memorable one.

"What can I say, I'm really happy with this start - he said - at the beginning of this season there was a lot of expectation for this new bike. Kawasaki has worked hard, trying to develop this bike as best we could and we won on our debut ”.

As mentioned, this is the 100th success for the six-time world champion…

“I grew up with the dream of being a motorcycle rider. I raced in motocross, then in Supersport and then my debut in World SBK, which for me was a crazy leap. What can I say: I am enthusiastic about my career, since I grew up in the mud and today I am here in Superbike ”.

With today's success Johnny enters the Olympus of 100 race winners headed by Agostini and Rossi...

“It's cool to be close to riders like Rossi and Agostini, but I only think about myself and doing the best I can. In the tests we worked hard with the team, despite having found bad weather in some places. However, each of us made some big sacrifices, but now we are in an excellent position. In fact, we started much better than last year, when I retired in Race 1 at Phillip Island ”.

It was clear that Johnny was grinning from ear to ear…

"To be honest, I've never looked closely at the statistics, although when I got close to 100 I started paying attention to them. In 2009 I won my first race in Misano and I didn't expect to reach a hundred wins in my career. The important thing, however, is to win the world title at the end of the season and be number one in October ”.

Johnny's attention then turned to the race…

“At the lights I managed to get a good start, then I tried to manage the situation as best I could, without even searching for the limit. I had the right pace, even if in the final I lost a bit of rhythm from what I did in the tests. "

Finally, there was a special dedication for these 100 victories...

“I dedicate this success to my father and my mother, because if I am here today it is thanks to them and all the sacrifices they have made in their lives. Like them, I am a father too and I know what it means to be on the track racing. In fact, I try to enjoy my loved ones to the fullest when I have some free time”.
