He has a long scar on his right arm from the surgery he underwent last week for compartment syndrome, but he looks relaxed and in good shape.

"It’s nice to be here in Portimão, but with the official team,” the Australian rider admits. “I’ve been a bit out of touch with everything and social networks these days. I  only thought about myself and about recovering. My arm is okay, but I can say that I was lucky to have been operated on so quickly in Barcelona. The recovery also surprised me. It was faster than I expected. They operated on me on Monday, I was already able to train on Wednesday.  I'm good and ready to race. Obviously, I'll have to see how I feel riding a MotoGP, but I'm not nervous.

But Portimao  is one of the most “physical” circuits in the World Championship.

"That’s true. This is a physical circuit, but also in Qatar where you’re at a maximum lean angle for a long time. I’ve always struggled in Losail, while I did very well here in 2020. I don't feel pressure. I always try to give my best. Then, if my best  wasn't enough, we move on to the next race. We must not waste energy thinking about the things that cannot be changed."
