Just out of the top 10 in the Doha GP. All in all, Enea Bastianini's balance sheet, after the first two races in MotoGP, is positive. The #23 leaves Qatar with a total of 11 points and more knowledge of his Ducati. The next stop will be Portimão, a new track for him to ride on a MotoGP bike. However, the Italian said he was relaxed ahead of the next rounds of the championship now that he has mastered running a race in the premier class.

“I'm happy because I got off to a good start. I was unable to overtake the three riders in front of me, which is a pity - said Enea - I had a good pace and I must say that I feel good with the bike. In two or three points I was losing more than the others but on the rest of the track I was also faster. I come to the end of this GP very satisfied ”.

What are your expectations for Portimão and for the following European rounds?

“I need to go home now, rest and train. Next week, from Monday when we enter the race weekend again, I will concentrate on understanding what I need. Here we have shown that we are fast ”.

For this GP did you work on the basis of the good feelings you had last weekend or did you work on something else? How did you return to being so fast in two days?

“Yesterday I made a good step forward in FP3. I was able to be quite fast also in FP4. Unfortunately then in qualifying I had that problem and I got a little distracted. Seeing the data I realized that the grip had changed. On the track I used the rear brake a lot, in the race I started to use it less and less and I noticed a benefit. Every time I went to touch that brake the bike would move and take me off-line. I had to work both on the set-up of the bike and on my style, I learned many things ".

So the teaching of the weekend was "don't use the rear brake"?

"That was the key, it seems trivial but actually when there is little grip with this bike it works".

Your lowering system is the same as that of the factory Ducati, Pecco said earlier that it is not easy to use?

"It's simple, the important thing is to remember it".

What do you think about the accident between Miller and Mir?

"I saw it from afar then later I saw the videos. I don’t want to say anything because first I would like to review it well from every perspective. I'm not sure what happened, for sure it would be better if these things didn't happen ”.

Did you get to see Moto3? What do you think of Pedro Acosta?

"He was amazing. I've never seen a race like this before. He was really good, hats off! ”.

Overall, how do you feel at the end of these first two MotoGP races?

“I'm more relaxed now because now I know what a MotoGP race is like. It is important to start in the first two rows to try to get on the podium, if you are behind you can still achieve a good result and have a good race ”.
