With the start of the 2021 season, journalist Vanessa Carlotta Inside Pass is working on her Red Bull column again, and met with Marc Marquez and Pol Espargarò during the Honda 2021 shoot. She chatted with both of them, as they poked fun at each other.

The two talked about how difficult it can be to manage media scrum with journalists who often ask the same questions ten times each. It was a fun interview, with Marc making fun of Pol for his classic politically correct answers: “I’m here to learn, to have fun, I’ll use the first races to study Marc’s data, I’ll try to do my best.”

Marc jokingly asked him to tell the truth: “That’s not true. You’re here to win, you don’t have to learn anything, you don’t have to have fun, you have to be up in front quick!” The eight-time world champion also said he misses the interviews a lot, sparking Pol’s reaction: “You’re  just lying!” The interviews are as always great, with Vanessa who also visited the Marc Marquez museum in Cervera and then tried her hand at a cross-country skiing session with Pol. It’s nice to see such a relaxed atmosphere between these rival riders who, despite sharing a garage, know perfectly well that their first goal is to battle it out against each other. Who knows if this idyll will continue once Marquez can get back on his bike.

Marc also talked about his relationship with his brother, Alex, and the reasons that led him to become a rider himself:
“It’s usually fathers who make their children passionate. In our case, Alex came to the races and initially wanted to be a race mechanic. At a certain point, he realized that standing there watching me race wasn’t all that fun, so he decided to start too.

The Spanish champion also commented on his brother’s debut season in the MotoGP.
I think it went really well. He had to deal with the pressure of his debut with the Honda HRC colors and also with the fact that everyone constantly reminded him that he was my brother. Actually, I follow my own path, he follows his, and I’m happy with how his first season in the MotoGP went. I wasn't expecting to see him on the podium.

He also talked about his physical condition and getting back on his bike, which  doesn’t seem very far.
My priority for 2021 is to fully recover with my arm. I must say that things are starting to go well, and I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I won’t be in the Qatar tests, and I dream of getting back to the top, of course.
