The presentation of the Gresini Racing team began with a greeting to Fausto, still hospitalized at the Maggiore Hospital in Bologna after contracting Covid in December. Wishing him a speedy return were the leaders of motorcycling Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna, and Jorge Viegas, the president of the FIM first, followed, among others, by the president of IRTA Hervé Poncharal, and by Loris Capirossi, who with Fausto was both teammate and then rider in his team.
The team’s activities have not come to a halt, indeed all of Gresini’s collaborators have been working even harder to prepare for the new season.
It was the commercial director Carlo Merlini who spoke for all of them: “These have been difficult weeks, Fausto is the real leader of the team and his absence has certainly been tough. On the other hand there is a team, created by him, which is giving 150% and has allowed us to get to the starting blocks. We have even more motivation not to disappoint him, we want to do everything well and we want Fausto to be proud ”.

From a chromatic point of view, the Moto3 bike is the one that has undergone the biggest changes, going to red and black and with a new sponsor, Indonesian Racing. Instead, the two riders from last year have been confirmed: Jeremy Alcoba and Gabriel Rodrigo.
"Last year I finished with a podium in Portimao and the title of rookie of the year, I want to start from there and try to improve, especially in qualifying" is Jeremy's goal.
Gabri is also aiming high: "I simply have to figure out how to better manage the races, now I have the experience and the maturity to fight for the title. In Spanish there is a saying: third time is the charm ".
The Moto2 team, on the other hand, in 2021 will be all-Italian with the reconfirmed Nicolò Bulega and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who returns after having raced with Gresini in Moto3.
The team coach Manuel Poggiali introduced the new couple: “I will work on all those details that will be useful for both the team and the riders. Two years ago this collaboration with Fausto started and it was a pleasant return to racing after a few years of absence. I hope to give the riders an extra boost, both from a technical and a human point of view ”.
Collaboration with the sponsor Federal Oil has been renewed, and the Moto2 bikes maintain an updated version of the classic white and red livery.
Nicolò used the winter to have surgery on his injured shoulder: "I'm already at 90% and I'm also very happy with how we have prepared for the season with the team. Since last year I have felt welcomed as if I had been with them for 10 years and I think we can do very well this season. "
As mentioned, for Diggia it is a return: “Fausto and I strongly wanted this project, for me it is like coming home. I haven't been able to try the Kalex yet, but I expect to find a competitive bike and I'll have to adapt ”.
