SBK: BSB, Bjorn Estment to continue with Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss Suzuki

It's not just big names, but Bjorn Estment with Powerslide Motorcycles with Catfoss Suzuki will also line up at the start of the BSB British Superbike 2021 season. Fresh from an up and down debut in the UK top class, the expert South African rider will continue his collaboration with the team led by Brad Clarke after the experience with them a couple of months ago at Brands Hatch. He will be riding a GSX-R 1000 and will have the support of OMG Racing and Hawk/Buildbase Racing.

Second full-time season for Bjorn Estment

Coming off the back of a past in British SuperSport 600 and recently in the inaugural round of the CIV SS600 at Mugello with Team MMR by RAM, at the beginning of 2020 Bjorn Estment decided to make the big leap into BSB together with Team NP Motorcycles. Despite a great desire to show his potential, adapting to the premier category and the BMW S1000RR proved to be more complicated than expected, with the South African forced to roam around the low-ranking positions.

With a bike definitely not up to par and a 16th place as his best result, both sides opted for a simple divorce by mutual consent at the end of the Donington Park 'Grand Prix' round. After leaving on good terms, Bjorn then moved on to Powerslide Suzuki for the Brands Hatch grand finale. Despite obtaining zero points in the three races of the weekend, for Estment it was a positive first contact with the "Gixxer" as he gradually improved his times. Hence the ambition to take part in 2021 with the same outfit, hoping to constantly fight for the top-15.

“I’m very excited about this opportunity heading into the 2021 season – declared Estment - It’s so nice to have things sorted early and be able to head home and begin the preparations and focus on making the 2021 season special. Brad, Dale and all the guys and girls involved in this project are full of so much enthusiasm and are ready to provide us with exactly what is needed to compete and race in BSB. With a little luck we will see the return of the fans trackside which will only increase the motivation and enjoyment of racing in this prestigious championship.”
