As every year, on the evening of the last GP of the season, the Grand Prix Gala was held. This year all the winners were given their awards in the press room in Portimao in a decidedly minimal way. Before the awards ceremony, however, Carmelo Ezpeleta wanted to take the floor for a message to the entire world of the world championship.
"For us it is important to say thank you to everyone - began the CEO of Dorna - This championship started in a difficult situation already in Qatar, where we had to make important decisions. Then things got even more complicated but we were very lucky to have had the opportunity to work all together. After the shock that the serious pandemic gave us we were in contact with the FIM and I want to thank them for understanding the situation and allowing us to set up this special championship. Then I would like to thank all the manufacturers, IRTA, the teams and the riders. Thanks to all of them we were able to organize this incredible championship, it was something that we all achieved together and I am sure that after this season we will be stronger than ever. This has been a special year because we have shown all our abilities and both MotoGP and the other classes have been incredible. I want to thank all the televisions because they allow us to bring the show to our millions of fans and also many more this year because it was not possible for them to come to the circuit. This is why we wanted to write the names of all those who worked for this championship on a poster to give them due recognition. Secondly, and even more importantly, I would like to thank all the circuits that have welcomed MotoGP even without fans in this difficult moment. For this reason, we decided yesterday, we will award them all as the best GP of the year. It is a very important thing because they have all worked very hard to allow the championship to take place. Thank you all".
This was the final message of the Dorna CEO who this year really salvaged the world championship. This is also the theme of tonight's live broadcast on our Facebook and YouTube channels with Scalera, Pernat and Aglio. (HERE THE DIRECT LINK)
