How did Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna’s CEO, react to the news that Valentino Rossi is COVID-19 positive?

For me, it’s as if he’d broken his collarbone, although I hope it hurts less and that Valentino heals sooner.

In short, Covid-19 is kind of like an injury.

We have a protocol for that and it worked. He took the test on Tuesday, and it was negative. Then he had symptoms, took it again, and tested positive. I hope it’s mild and that he gets better, so he can come back as soon as possible. What I don’t know is when. Making predictions on this is very complicated,”  Ezpeleta told AS.

With regard to the fact that the most representative rider of the championship was affected, even if he’s not fighting for the title now, Ezpeleta was clear: “Valentino is one of a thousand and more people who are in the paddock and we’re all exposed. The important thing is that these situations do not contaminate the rest of the group and that the races can be held. The good thing is that he didn’t have to travel all the way from Italy because he isolated himself, and the rest of his team which are here, are fine and don’t have problems.”

In other words, everything is just fine and, as we had already written: the show must go on.
