It is not often that we see Valentino come up short three times in a row, but this is the balance sheet of the Misano, Barcelona and Le Mans Grands Prix. His French race lasted a few dozen metres before he and his Yamaha were sliding on the asphalt. You might have to go and browse through the annals to see the last time it happened, but the Doctor's memory saves you the bother...

"Unfortunately, I remember it well, it was last year - he smiled - It happened at Mugello, Barcelona and Assen. These things shouldn't happen, so you ask yourself a lot of questions. I already know that I will think about it even more in the next few days. You have to make a very long discourse the existence of good and bad luck. In my entire career I have never been able to understand if bad luck really exists, but at this moment it seems to me that it does ”.

So Rossi picked up his third consecutive zero…

“They were three very different mistakes - he explained - In Misano, I didn't feel well physically, I had flu and I didn't have much strength. In Barcelona I had my best weekend of the year, together with that of Jerez, I was fast and I made a mistake when the most had been done. Here, on the other hand, it happened at the first corner and we need to understand why ”.

Rossi is unable to hide his disappointment…

“It's a shame, the worst thing is to crash without even understanding your potential - he continued - I'm in a difficult, unlucky moment, even though I'm fast I haven't managed to even score a point in three races. They were good circuits for me, where you had to bring home the points. I feel very sad, I had a good start and we were all very relaxed in the first left-hand corner, because the conditions were difficult. I was careful, but the bike started to move at the rear and I don't know what happened ”.

At times like these, you have to get up and forget about disappointments. But the next two tracks, Aragon and Valencia, are certainly not the Doctor's favourites…

“On paper they will be difficult for me - he confirmed - Precisely for this reason it will be important to be competitive, it will be a challenge. There are 5 races left until the end of the championship and I will have to give my best ”.

The regret is even greater, because the fight for the title is still open and, without the numerous mistakes, the Doctor could still have been in the hunt...

“I must admit that Quartararo did a great job today - said Valentino - He was calm, made no mistakes and scored points. With the Yamaha we struggle in these conditions, because today it was wet but there wasn't much water on the asphalt, the same thing happens to us when we use slicks when it's damp. We lack a lot of traction. It was a pity for me but also for Yamaha, we could all have done a great race in the dry. Anyway Fabio was good, like at Barcelona, in my opinion his best victory with difficult conditions, I'm sure he will be strong until the end ”.

Rossi also wanted to congratulate Petrucci…

“Danilo was great – were his words – he has always been strong at Le Mans and the Ducati is very competitive in these conditions. It was a great victory, he was up front from start to finish, and he deserved it after going through a difficult moment. "
