MotoGP, Marquez: “I have a meeting with Honda, we’re starting to work for 2021”

GALLERY 8-time world champion in the Repsol-Honda garage in Barcelona: “I’m in Montmelo because I have a meeting with the Japanese. I want to get back on the track soon, but we want to do it in utmost safety. We still don’t have a date for my return.”

Yesterday, the first interview with the sponsor, Repsol.  Today, Marc Marquez made his first appearance in the paddock, in which he hasn’t been since his attempt to return to the track in Jerez 2, after his accident on July 19th.

So the eight-time world champion has been missing from the paddock for almost two months, and the Barcelona GP was the inevitable chance for his return, even if he’s only a spectator for now.

Marc obviously spent time in his garage,  where he met up with, among others, his only Italian mechanic,  Roberto Clerici, aka “Ginetto”,  who had also worked with Casey Stoner in Ducati.

I’m fine. I feel better every day. I have tests done on my right arm every Monday, and everything’s going well. We’re working well with the doctors,” Marc told Sky.  “I came here to  meet with the Japanese and start working in a 2021 perspective and review my team. Slowly, everything is getting better.  I want to get back on the track soon, but we want to do it in utmost safety, when everything is 100%. We still haven’t decided the right date for my return.

Suppositions have been made about possible dates:  France, at Le Mans, on October 11th seems to be excluded. Then there are two double races, in Aragon and in Valencia, before the grand finale in Portimao.

The two double races could be an excellent chance for long test sessions in view of 2021 for a rider who is no longer competing for the world championship.
