MotoGP: Tech3 without main sponsor for 2021: Red Bull wants to leave

The Tech3 team could lose its Red Bull sponsorship starting next season. Reporting the indiscretion is Speedweek, which added that the news has been in the air from the Styrian Grand Prix, which was won by the French team thanks to Miguel Oliveira.

The results on the track, however, seem not to have been enough to change the mind of the energy drink giant, which has always been closely tied to KTM. The decision would be even more unexpected because the sponsorship contract was supposed to expire at the end of 2021.

For Hervé Poncharal it would be a tough blow, because he would find himself with empty fairings not only in MotoGP but also in Moto3, after Red Bull decided to promote its cola drink in the two categories this season. The Tech3 owner declined to comment: “I'm not involved in the negotiations; they are in the hands of KTM”.

It was KTM and Red Bull that wanted a common identity for the two teams (factory and satellite), thus demonstrating how the French outfit was not just a customer, but a real junior team closely linked to the parent company. In fact, the presentations of the two teams had always been joint, like the sporting programs, and a demonstration of this is that Danilo Petrucci will be in the French team next year.

Now Tech3 could find itself without a sponsor and Speedweek assumes in this case a direct help from KTM, which could help the French team to race in its classic orange colour.
