Even if MotoGP is on hiatus for two weeks, there are a lot of matters for discussions after the first races: the Ducati riders’ market, Yamaha's difficulties, KTM's surprise, criticism of the Stewards. As always, Carlo Pernat did not hold back and had his say in a Live broadcast with our readers (you can see the full video above).

We start with Borgo Panigale which, after Dovizioso's farewell, has decided to focus on youngsters. The question is whether the last free Desmosedici will be for Marini or Bastianini.

"I believe 80% that Enea Bastianini will arrive - reckons the outspoken Italian manager - The strategy at Ducati has changed a bit because they are giving all the riders one-year contracts with an option for another year, it puts them under pressure. and then evaluates them. In my opinion it is a good strategy, they have decided to modernize, it is a new course for Ducati. Lorenzo is out of contention for a ride now, it was a possibility but then Ducati opted to go along the path of talented youngsters”.

While Ducati is thinking about the future, Yamaha is worried about the present…

"Yamaha made a revolution in terms of riders, signing Quartararo, Vinales and Morbidelli, but that's not enough, now they need a technical revolution was Pernat's opinion - The last great designer they had was Furusawa, his M1 was the best of all. For years, the bike has dropped in competitiveness and now the Yamaha is the last bike on the grid, Aprilia excluded. It is no longer a question of riders, I want to defend Valentino from the numerous accusations, with this M1 they will never win the World Championship in a normal season. Each time there is a different problem, they are also in trouble with the reliability of the engines and I would not be surprised if some riders start from the pit lane before the end of the season. "

Furthermore, Quartararo seems to have lost his early-season lustre...

“Fabio has felt the pressure in the past and is feeling it now. We said he was the anti-Marquez but Fabio showed he had an Achilles heel, I didn't expect him to collapse so much," admitted Carlo.

The last GPs have also been dominated by criticism of the Stewards led by Spencer, with a number of differing opinions.

“It's not politics but incapacity - Pernat attacked - Ezpeleta has always listened to the riders and I think something will happen before Misano as far as the Stewards are concerned. Freddie Spencer is risking his place ”.

Finally, the Italian manager spoke about KTM's chances of aiming for the title…

“The KTM is competitive but a different rider always wins, for the title it would be necessary for the same one to always win. The most accredited of all was Pol Espargarò, but he hasn't won yet, I don't see them with a rider who can win the World Championship,” he said.
