MotoGP, Marquez says his 2011 injury was worse than this one

"That year was more difficult because I didn't know if I would be able to race again. It’s easy to say it was the doctors' mistake after. Unpredictable world championship, Quartararo and Dovizioso are the favourites."

MotoGP: Marquez says his 2011 injury was worse than this one

The interview at home is a tradition when the champion is not on the track to defend his title and this was exactly the case with Marc Marquez who spoke to Dazn.

“I would like to be there, but in a rider’s career, we take a lot of risks and after 8 years I had never missed a race - he began to explain - but this is a strange season, the most difficult for me. The first time I followed the advice of the doctors, they told me that I could get on the bike, that the plate would not give way. They were wrong, but I will follow their advice even now. It is the right arm and I already struggled with my shoulder in the winter, so I intend to fully recover. Was it a mistake to come back so soon? Yes, but it could also have happened by returning at Brno and afterwards it is easy to analyse the situation ”.

Asked if this was his worst moment since he started racing, Marc recalled the accident that cost him the Moto2 title, won by Stefan Bradl and then won by him the following year.

“We men are all the same: we forget the wounds. But in 2011 and 2012 it was more difficult because I didn't know if I would be able to ride again (he had a sight problem, diplopia, double vision, Ed.). Now basically it's a bone and I know I'll be back riding but obviously it takes time”.

Asked about how the rehab was going, he said: “I walk my brother's dogs and continue to train, but not with my right arm (laughs). I will resume cardio training next week with a static bike. Honestly speaking, it's tough, but I'm with all my friends even though I obviously miss racing. I just have to be patient ”.

The world championship is now over, but who will succeed him on the MotoGP throne?

"At first it seemed that it was going to be Fabio, he was going fast, but then with the pressure it became more difficult. This world championship is fun to watch because you don't know who will win. There is no one at the moment who seems to have more than anyone else".

And a comment on his team that doesn't win without him…

"Obviously, I'm talking to Honda, Nakagami is doing well, while my brother Alex is struggling a bit. As I said, it's an interesting world championship also from home because of the unpredictability. After Jerez I would have said that the favourite was Quartararo, but then after Brno things changed for him and to win the world championship you must always be there. If I had to bet, I would bet on Quartararo or Dovi. Fabio is fast but Andrea has the experience, and I think that if he were to win, everyone would be happy because he has come close for three years. His decision to leave Ducati surprised me, I hope to have him again as a rival. Here they are the favourites, but we must not forget Vinales, as long as he doesn't lose too many races "
