MotoGP, Zarco case: a ridiculous statement, the decision tomorrow

The FIM Stewards Panel has decided to continue not deciding, at least until tomorrow. For Petrucci a written warning, no penalty for Pol Espargarò

MotoGP: Zarco case: a ridiculous statement, the decision tomorrow

"After the corresponding hearings conducted today at the Red Bull Ring, the following decisions have been taken:

Incident between riders Aleix Espargaro and Danilo Petrucci during Qualifying 1 on Saturday 15th August: Danilo Petrucci was issued an official written warning for his gestures.

Incident between riders Miguel Oliveira and Pol Espargaro during the race on Sunday 16th August: no further action.

Incident involving riders Franco Morbidelli and Johann Zarco during the race on Sunday 16th August: The decision will be published tomorrow on Friday 21st August".

This is the press release from the FIM after today's hearings. It would be funny if it weren’t so tragic...

The Stewards Panel had already been criticized by many for having waited days before summoning the riders, but the affair seemed to have finally arrived at a conclusion. Instead, things couldn’t get any worse and everything looks like a pantomime.

The decision was made to decide tomorrow, in a legislative and communicative non-sensical ‘short circuit’. It’s no laughing matter however, as it all comes nicely wrapped up in a letter with the header of the International Motorcycle Federation.

We have waited until today and we will wait again. The curiosity about what Spencer & Co. will still be able to invent is too strong. Then we will enjoy the races, at least nobody can take those away from us…
