SBK: Razgatlioglu: “I'm not dangerous. For me it is normal to brake like this

Friday at Portimao clearly belonged to Toprak Razgatlioglu. A performance to be framed for the Yamaha rider, who broke the benchmark of the day thanks to the super time set in FP1 in the morning. The Portuguese Round couldn’t have got off to a better start for the Turkish rider therefore, sending a clear message to his rivals.

“I must say it didn't go bad at all - he began - in Jerez I struggled on Friday, but this time I was the fastest, which never happened. I found some good sensations right from the start on the bike, especially on the flying lap. Here the Yamaha performs well in corners and I manage to be as effective as I want ”.

On race pace Toprak seems to be at the level of Rea and Kawasaki…

“That I don't know. With the team we focused above all on balancing the R1, in order to be competitive and consistent on the pace. The impressions are good, but it's just the beginning. Johnny is strong, as are the other riders, but I just have to focus on myself ”.

From the point of view of the championship, Toprak has had to deal with two zeroes, but that doesn't matter to him…

“Of course, I am disappointed about that, but at the same time there is no point thinking about the past. In fact, only the present and this weekend counts, where my goal is to try to win or fight for the podium ”.

His last comment was about what was said about him by Scott Redding, who considers the Turk too dangerous in braking.

“I'm not of the same opinion, since for me it's normal to ride the Yamaha like this and I don't cause problems for others. After all, this is Superbike and the team has provided me with a bike that brakes hard and at the same time allows me to quickly get back on the gas ”.
