Unfortunately, with the return of the action, the crashes have also returned, and Danilo Petrucci was one of the first to pay for it. The Terni rider in fact, who finished the test day next-to-last, suffered a bad crash after coming across the oil left by Aleix Espargarò's Aprilia on his way.

“I was with other riders and behind the bike of Aleix (Espargarò, Ed.) - Danilo said - who started to smoke when braking, but he continued to lap. At turn 11, however, I crashed on the oil, I lost the front: it is a very fast curve, so I started rolling and banging my head several times, and once the crash was over I felt a lot of pain. Unfortunately, I had to interrupt the most important session early, the one in the time of the race, but given the severe neck pain I felt I feel lucky, and I hope that the pain will not be too strong tomorrow ".

Petrucci only really did the morning session therefore, where the feelings were (despite a not particularly encouraging position) positive.

“This morning I was surprised by the sensations transmitted by the soft tyre: I didn't change tyres during the session and I made the best time at the end. The position was obviously not the best, but the pace satisfied me. I also thought it would take longer to readjust to the bike, but like many others it wasn't. "

The undisputed fact of the day is for everyone the great heat, which obviously also caused problems for the Ducati rider.

“Racing in these temperatures will be hard on the tyres but above all for the riders. I trained a lot in the hottest hours to prepare, but we will have to see how all the various components will react to the situation. We have to ride calmly, without too much impetuosity in view of the end of the race. It will be difficult to keep up with the pace of the Yamahas”.

In conclusion Danilo also briefly spoke about the rider market. The love story with Ducati has come to an end, but Petrucci wants to end it in a big way.

“Ducati made its decision long ago, so I had to act accordingly, but as I said before, I have another year of contract with Ducati and I want to win again with this bike. A tough year awaits me in which I want to do the best I can, improving as I have always done also from a mental point of view, to convince and prepare myself better for the future ".
