There were two Yamaha riders ahead of everyone else at the end of Wednesday in Jerez. One was that of Maverick Vinales, the other Fabio Quartararo. The Petronas man finished the test with the second quickest time therefore, showing great satisfaction for what he was able to do on the track.
“It was a really positive day for all of us - Fabio began - it was not easy to find the right sensations on the bike immediately, given that here in Jerez we start from a different set-up compared to the tests of Qatar and Sepang. Personally, I am satisfied, since being back on the bike after such a long time is something unique ".
In FP1 on Friday, Fabio will be suspended for the first 20 minutes, because he used irregular components in tests carried out at Paul Ricard.
"The only thing I can say is that there was a meeting in the garage this morning, but my mind was focused exclusively on the bike. I didn't think much about this thing anymore, as well as about the fact that I will have twenty minutes less on Friday. My only thought is the bike and trying to be competitive with the M1 ".

Fabio, many consider Yamaha to be the favourite bike for the weekend. Do you agree too?
“I don't think that the Yamaha is the bike to beat here in Jerez, given that the Honda won last year. It is one thing to be fast over one lap, another over race pace. I am happy with this day and I believe that the same thing also applies to Vinales, who has shown that he is competitive on race pace. In the past, however, we suffered a lot on the straights, given that we had a hard time keeping up with the Honda and the Ducati ".
It will be your first race with the same bike as Rossi and Vinales…
"That’s true. It is a race that comes in an unusual context, after so many months away from racing. A year ago, here in Jerez I had less experience than today, but I had already disputed races. This will be the first one of the season, therefore we will see what will happen, also because I don't have 20 years of experience riding a motorcycle. "
