The time has come for Aprilia to get back on track, and it did so today in Misano. After the lockdown caused by the Coronavirus emergency, it was test rider Bradley Smith who got back on the RS-GP, entirely revolutionized for 2020.

Logically, the test took place with all the necessary precautions, safety distances and masks included. The British rider was able to get some cricks out but also test some new features from the Racing Department in Noale that, despite the difficulties, managed to even work during the past weeks.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, and a downpour broke loose on the Misano track around midday. An unforeseen event that didn't stop Smith, and he continued riding, using wet tires until 6:30 pm, despite the fact that the asphalt remained wet all afternoon.

In all, Bradley managed to complete 72 laps and perform a sort of shake down with all the bikes in view of the end of month test in which Aleix Espargarò will also participate. They did some prep work on the RS-GPs, which was updated a bit, because it been at a standstill since the tests in Qatar.

Weather permitting, Smith will also be on track tomorrow morning to complete his program. The next appointment will be June 23rd to 25th, in Misano, when Ducati and KTM will also join Aprilia.

You can watch our exclusive video (above) from Misano with Smith during a starting test. After so much silence, there's nothing better than enjoying the sound of the Italian V4.
