Austrian manufacturer KTM did things in grand style when it decided to present its latest incarnation of the Beast on two wheels to the world, that is the Super Duke 1290 R which has reached its third evo generation, now becoming an even sharper blade to slice between the curbs and an authentic corner-killer on the road.
The test took place at the magnificent Portimao circuit, the easiest track where you can enjoy long wheelies in the seat of a motorcycle with the right amount of torque and horsepower, which abound on the Super Duke at any speed. KTM let the journalists loose on the bike, including us; it invited us to dare, it explained in detail how different the third generation of the bike was from the previous one and how much the new chassis could help in slicing between the curbs.
From the video distributed by KTM, it can be easily be seen how much the merry band of journalists from all over the world enjoyed their time with the Super Duke, squeezing the best out of a motorcycle that is undoubtedly ready to take up the challenge launched by the other European manufacturers, primarily Ducati with the Streetfighter and Aprilia with the Thunder.
This is our test!
