The FIM Disciplinary Court has come to a decision and has sentenced Andrea Iannone to a disqualification of 18 months after his doping test came back positive last November during the Sepang GP.
The prosecution had requested 4 years of disqualification for the Aprilia rider, while the defense had supported the theory of food contamination. The court had accepted this conclusion, excluding that Iannone had voluntarily assumed substances, but this wasn’t enough to exonerate him.
Now he’ll have to wait for his appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
