The riders are enjoying a well-deserved rest after a long and tiring season, but winter is not vacation time for everyone. Engineers in the racing department are in full-swing preparing for next year. December is a decisive month to analyze the data collected in the first tests and finish the bikes which the riders will be back on in Malaysia in February.

They're even working at full speed in Hamamatsu, Suzuki's headquarters and, after the Jerez tests, there was good news from the track. The two riders, Alex Rins and Joan Mir, along with test rider Sylvain Guintoli, had to push the new 2020 engine to its limit, and they were satisfied.

"My opinion is positive,"  said Mir. "It has a sweet character. I think we're on the right track to be competitive  next year."

His feelings were shared by his teammate, Rins, and test rider Guintoli: "These tests went really well."

Team manager Davide Brivio confirmed their impressions: "One of the main objectives of these tests was to reach a decision regarding the engine. It seems to be going well, so this will be the engine we'll use in 2020."
