The Superbike faced its last task for 2019 in Jerez. Now it's time to pull the plug, and see each other again in January for the first tests of 2020. At the end of the Spanish tests that ended yesterday, the fastest of all was Johnny Rea, while the Ducatis ended up chasing each other.
This was Scott Redding's case, who closed his two days with a fifth time, one second behind Johnny Rea's Kawasaki.
"We mainly focused on improving grip on the rear of our bike that, on this track, did not particularly satisfy me," the British rider commented . "Thanks to the work of the team, we finally managed to find something interesting. We're not yet where we want to be, but we're making progress."
Scott then tried to see the glass half full.
“In addition to trying the new Pirelli tires, we've improved in our confidence with the electronics, which is totally new for me in the Superbike. I'm quite happy with the tests, in general. I've reached a good deal of confidence with the Panigale V4R, and we know which direction to take for next season."
Then there was Chaz Davies, who registered a seventh time.
"It was a very intense test and, all in all, I'm quite satisfied," the Welsh rider explained. "We tried many components, and we focused mainly on improving our basic set-up."
A certain confidence transpired from his face.
I believe we've collected useful information, working mainly to improve weight transfer on the rear and testing new solutions. Now I can't wait to enjoy some rest that will help me and the team recharge our batteries for next season."
