MotoGP: OFFICIAL. Surgery for Marquez's shoulder tomorrow: "It's the best option."

It'll be another winter of suffering and hard work for Marc Marquez. The Spanish rider will be getting surgery for his right shoulder tomorrow, very similar to what he underwent for his left shoulder last year.

This will mean a long period of rehabilitation for him, with the aim of returning to his Honda at the Sepang tests, scheduled for February 7th-9th.

Yesterday's accident was the straw that broke the camel's back. Marc had problems with his shoulder after the Motegi GP. The situation got worse in Sepang after the crash in qualifying, and yesterday was the final blow during the Jerez tests.

"I would have liked to enjoy a nice vacation and a bit of tranquility this winter, after a great 2019, but it's time to undergo surgery on my right shoulder ," Marc announced. "Like everyone knows, last winter was difficult for me after the surgery on my left shoulder, which was very, very damaged. I want to prevent my right shoulder from being in that condition in the future, so I talked a lot with the doctors to understand what our options were."

"I had some shoulder problems before Motegi. Then, after the accident in Malaysia, I had a subluxation," he explained. "Here, during the test, I had another subluxation after the accident, so we decided with the doctors that it was better to operate, in order to prevent having the same problem I had with my other shoulder. It'll take more or less the same time to recover, and I'll work in the same way to arrive at the tests in Malaysia as strong as possible.
