The Malaysian Grand Prix is the last event in the three back-to-back, end-of-season flyaway races and the Sepang International Circuit will be the venue for the penultimate round of the 2019 championship. Let’s have a look at ten key facts about the race:

- Thanks to the nine points he scored at Phillip Island, Andrea Dovizioso is now mathematically guarenteed to finish runner-up in the Riders’ classification for the third year in a row; only Marc Márquez has managed to finish ahead of him in the last three seasons. If we consider the six MotoGP titles won by Márquez since 2013, Dovizioso has finished in second place three times, Rossi twice and Lorenzo once.

- Sepang is one of the circuits in which the Ducati Team has scored most victories, with three different riders, a total of five times: Capirossi in 2005, Stoner in 2007 and 2009 and Dovizioso in 2016 and 2017.

- As well as these victories, we have to add another three podiums: Carlos Checa third in 2005, Capirossi and Lorenzo second in 2006 and 2017 respectively.

- The 920 metre long straight of the Sepang circuit is the seventh longest in the entire calendar.

- 339.60 km/h is the highest speed ever recorded at Sepang by a MotoGP bike, a record set by the Desmosedici GP of Andrea Iannone in 2015.

- With a length of 5.543 km, Sepang is the second longest circuit in the championship, only behind Silverstone.

- Danilo Petrucci’s best finish in the MotoGP World Championship so far is eighth place, a position he achieved in 2017 and 2018. The Italian rider, currently lying in fifth, is just two races away from finishing his best-ever season in the world championship.

- Andrea Dovizioso needs just 21 points to equal his highest-ever points score in the Riders’ standings. His record so far is 261, which earned him second place in 2017.

- With his win in 2016, Dovizioso brought an end to a six-year period without a victory. That year at Sepang he scored the hat trick, also setting Pole Position and fastest race lap.

- Sepang, together with Montmeló and Motegi, is the most challenging circuit for brakes, which are used for 37 seconds per lap, about 30% of the race.
