MotoGP: Gardner snubs Marquez: "I bet on Ducati and Miller at Phillip Island"

Wayne Gardner, former 500 champion, agreed to answer one of the thorniest questions in the run up to a GP - who will win at Phillip Island. The former Australian rider didn't just reply, but tried to predict the entire podium.

Gardner has taken a risk in not putting Marquez on the highest step of the rostrum. This doesn't mean he's underestimating the Spanish champion.

Marc is a special talent, there's no doubt - he says - but he's always at the limit on the bike. Like a cat with nine lives, he's always at the limit and I don't know how he does it. I've never seen anything like it before and I don't think Valentino has either.

This is not enough to earn him the spot of favourite.

Marquez will finish second” he believes.

So who will win?

The Ducatis will be fast as always, they have a lot of power and brake hard- replies Wayne - I'd put Jack Miller first, because he'll be pushed by his home crowd and I'm sure Ducati will help him”.

And then on the final step of the podium...?

I'd say Yamaha with Maverick Vinales” he concludes.
