Wayne Rainey has been experiencing one of the greatest satisfactions since he started and has been managing the MotoAmerica championship. One of the most talented riders on the starting grid has, in fact, won a place in the world championship with the GRT Yamaha team, taking over for Sandro Cortese. A great opportunity for Garrett Gerloff, who commented today (read HERE ) on his new gig through a statement from Yamaha Europe.

In his meeting with our Paolo Scalera, which took place at the Laguna Seca World Championship round (see video HERE), Rainey explained the excellent work that MotoAmerica is carrying out, especially in finding young riders that give them the hope of being able to return their previous glories when, in the 500cc World Championship was monopolized by riders from the States. These were Rainey's words when he officially commented on Gerloff.

"We're really happy that Garrett will have this opportunity to pursue his dreams," said Rainey. "He had a great season in MotoAmerica this year, and we're sure he has seized the perfect moment to show his talent to the rest of the world. He was fast in 2019, won four races, and remained in the fight for the championship until the end."

According to the three-time 500 cc world champion, Gerloff will have no difficulty adapting to the characteristics of the SBK World Championship.

"I think Garrett will have an advantage because our regulation is in line with that of the SBK World Championship, so he'll just have to get on the bike and go race. When we started the MotoAmerica, we wanted to make sure that our riders could have opportunities to arrive in the SBK World Championship. We wanted them to be at ease with the rules, both technical and those relating to racing procedures. The only thing we wanted them to do was learn the tracks."

Rainey is very optimistic about Gerloff's chances of doing well in his international debut season.

"We know that Garrett can do this job well. He can really do well, and everyone in the MotoAmerica wishes him the best, and they can't wait to follow him in his first season in the SBK World Championship."
