106 races and 15 podiums, these are the figures that sum up Alex Lowes' four years aboard the Yamaha. An adventure that began in 2016 and that will draw to an end after race 2 in Qatar. The rumours had been circulating for a while, and now comes official confirmation on the part of the manufacturer, that bids farewell to its rider.

Lowes' future almost certainly lies with Kawasaki, alongside Rea, with Alex going to replace Leon Haslam, whose future is still to be written. There was talk of an opportunity for Lowes in Ten Kate, but his goal was to be part of a factory team: “I want to thank Alex - states Eric de Seynes, Yamaha Motor Europe President - it was a difficult decision not to continue with Alex in the same role for the 2020 season but it was also our sincere hope that he would remain within the Yamaha family. Unfortunately that's not the case and Alex will not be on a Yamaha next season".

In the coming days an announcement re Razgatlioglu is expected, fresh from his Magny-Cours victory.
