SBK: Davies betrayed in Race 1: "I fell due to an electronic problem."

You can tell he feels really bad, and we can understand that. That's right. Notwithstanding a complicated qualification, Chaz Davies was on the track with a knife between his teeth and the objective of aiming for the upper echelons of the class. In fact, the Welsh rider climbed to the top, fighting for the best positions.

Then, what you never expected to happen, did. The fall that made all his ambitions vanish in one fell swoop. The Welsh rider ended up on the ground and almost brought Toprak Razgatlioglu down with him. Chaz was truly sorry.

"Unfortunately, my race ended too soon," he began. "We had an electronic problem, and I ended up falling. We still have to understand what exactly happened. Probably something that then affected the engine brake."

Razgatlioglu also almost ended up falling.

"I didn't want to pass Toprak at that point, since I was far. Unfortunately, that's what happened, and I was lucky not to have made him fall too."

And to think, this isn't the first time that Davies' bike has turned its back on him.

"I was battling it out good with the other riders, and it's frustrating when it ends, especially because we were struggling to get a good result. It's too bad, since I had a good feeling on the bike in the first few laps and felt competitive ."

In the early stages of the race, there was lots of overtaking and also contacts.

"I didn't see any foul play. Everyone of us had contact with some other rider but, in the end, it was a fair race for everyone. At this point, I just have to think about Sunday, where the objective will be the podium. Maybe it'll be more complicated in the Superpole Race, since the race is short, and I'm starting from behind, but I'm confident for race 2."

So the road for Chaz seems set.

"I'd say that the afternoon conditions were useful for being faster, since I was fast in dry conditions. I tried to be conservative in the morning, but I attacked in the afternoon."

*Chaz went to Razgatlioglu's garage after the race to apologize about the maneuver that threatened to make the Turkish rider fall.
