It's now only a question of when Marquez will secure his 8th title, or his 6th in MotoGP. The Misano win and Dovizioso's disappointing result are like rolling out a red carpet, the Spaniard able to lift the championship trophy already in Thailand, four rounds ahead prior to the end of the season.

And to prepare for this outcome, there could be no better track than Motorland. Marc's home track and one where he was won the last three editions, as well as those of 2013 and 2011 (in Moto2). He even has his own dedicated corner in Turn 10.

Having just won at rival Rossi's home track, Marquez has every intention of celebrating in front of a more friendly crowd this Sunday.

“After a fantastic win in Misano I am excited to race again, especially in Aragon where I really feel like I am at home as it is so close to Cervera - he comments - It’s where the most people from my hometown come to watch and always the fans help to give me something extra."

With a 93-point lead over Dovizioso, Marc can even afford to take some risks in order to give his fans a race they won't forget.

"We have a good lead in the championship but it doesn’t change how we approach the weekend, we keep pushing and trying to achieve our maximum. Let’s see what happens", he concludes.

Jorge Lorenzo: "my aim is to reduce the gap between me and the fastest"

Lorenzo also has a more than respectable history at Aragon, with 2 wins and 7 podiums to his name. It's hard to see how he'll add to this tally on Sunday though. Jorge is not yet back in top shape and is still short on confidence with the Honda. The Majorcan will have to grit his teeth once more as he tries to build a solid base for the future.

Aragon is a circuit I like and have had good results at in the past and in Misano we started the weekend well so I am hopeful we can be strong - states Lorenzo - Our objective is to keep closing the distance to the front as I improve physically and finish better than we did in Silverstone and in Misano. It will be good to race in front of the home fans before we begin the tour overseas.”
