The Misano tests have clearly been important for the MotoGP riders, whether in terms of development ahead of next season, or regarding preparation for the upcoming race at the same track in two weeks' time. So much to test then, but for Maverick Vinales the present remains the most important thing.

Having expressed a certain amount of displeasure regarding the new 2020 components, Vinales did little work with them today.

"The new bike won't put us at the level of Honda and Ducati and Rossi basically has the same ideas as me on this" he said.

"I didn't work with many of next year's parts today, I focused more on the work we have to do ahead of the race here in two weeks' time. I know it's always hot here and the bike slides around, so I focused on that".

How do you feel about the work completed?

"We made some improvement in the hot conditions, but I expected more. I lapped a lot with the hard tyre because with the soft I'm already OK. I also carried out a race simulation and the times weren't bad. I'm confident".

Aside from the heat, what is the real issue for you and the M1?

"The start is my weak point this year and today I tried to work on that too, so I'm confident that I can start well from now on. I lost a lot off the line at Silverstone and that's why I couldn't do more than third".
