On 4 August 2019 during the Moto3 Race of the GP of Brno, Alonso Lopez was found to be acting in an aggressive manner with another rider (his team mate, Sergio Garcia). This occurred immediately after a crash at 11:31 entering Turn 12 and on the service road several minutes later.

This contravenes Article 3.3.2.2 of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations “any corrupt or fraudulent act, or any action prejudicial to the interests of the meetings or of the sport, carried out by a person or a group of persons occurring during an event.” It is therefore an infringement of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, being detrimental to the interests of the sport.

Sanction

For the above reasons the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel  - Bill Cumbow, Freddie Spencer  and Raffaele De Fabritiis - has imposed on the rider a starting from the pit lane penalty for the Moto3 Race of the GP of Osterreich. (in accordance with articles 3.2.1 and 3.3.2.3)

Right of Appeal

According to Articles 3.4.2, 3.4.6, and 3.4.7 of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, the rider has the right to appeal against this decision of the MotoGP Stewards Panel to the FIM Appeal Stewards. A statement of appeal must be made within 30 minutes from the date and time of this notification, and accompanied by a security deposit of €1320. The appeal can be lodged with IRTA who may also arrange for guarantee of the security deposit payment.
