MotoGP, Record fine for Pol Espargarò: €.64,800 for driving with a revoked license

It may not be a record, but it's not every day that someone gets a €64,800 fine. It happened to Pol Espargarò, and the Spanish Supreme Court applied a very heavy sanction. As reported by AS, it all dates back to 2016, when the Spanish rider had been stopped by the police in Granollers (near Barcelona) driving his car with an non-valid license because he had lost all his points due to previous offenses.

Actually, Pol had a license, but it was from Andorra, where he has been living since 2014, and that's why he had filed an appeal. However, the court denied it because the DGT (the General Directorate of Traffic) had previously sent him notice that his license had been revoked.

Furthermore, the judges argued that, even if Espargarò has a foreign license, this doesn't mean that he is immune to the consequences of the infringements he committed in Spain, In other words, Pol has no choice but to pay that very high fine.
