KTM has already decided. There will be no place in the Tech3 team for Syahrin in 2020. Brad Binder will be joining Miguel Oliveira, with whom he had already raced as a teammate in both the Moto3 and Moto2. The announcement was made today, and Brad will become the first South African ever to ride in MotoGP next year.

Binder has already had a taste of the RC16. In fact, he has been in Brno since yesterday on the KTM 1000 along with test riders Dani Pedrosa and Mika Kallio.

"Having this opportunity is incredible,"  was Binder's first comment. "I want to really thank KTM, the Tech3 team, my manager, and my family for helping me reach the top class and allowing me to try. It's an extraordinary sensation and a dream that has come true. When we're growing up, this is the goal we set for ourselves, being in the MotoGP with the best riders and bikes in the world, so now I have a good feeling."

Pit Beirer, KTM's Motorsport Manager, added: "Having been able to sign up Brad Binder for our MotoGP project is an exciting moment because he has been with us for five years and was world champion with us. We have a strong history behind us and an equally strong bond, and we're really happy that he's continuing with us. It's clear that we all have a great challenge ahead of us, and we also feel a responsibility towards him for being able to continue on this great path that we have undertaken together. We also like the fact that Brad has this peculiar riding style that allows him to push a bike to its max. We have the feeling that he is perfect for us, and we can't wait to see how he'll behave and what his approach towards the MotoGP will be. I'm sure he'll be able to add something more because he did it with every bike he has raced with so far, and it'll be a strong point, not only for us but for all MotoGP fans."

"Brad is a rider I've been following since he started racing in the Rookies Cup and later in the Moto3 ," recalled Tech3 team's manager, Hervé Poncharal." I think having Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder reunited with us next year is something that shows that the organization and the path taken by KTM is working. It'll be a strong team because I think there will be an excellent relationship between him and Miguel. There was never any doubt that this is the line-up we wanted to have, and I'd like to thank KTM for its investment and Red Bull for its support. I'd like to give Brad a warm welcome and tell him that we'll support him even more closely during the second part of the Moto2 season. I'm sure he'll win some races, maybe he'll fight for the title, and we're ready to work with him starting from the Valencia test."
