MotoGP: Rossi hopes in Sachsenring: “I'll understand if the changes to the M1 work”

Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales go to the Sachsenring in entirely different moods. Rossi has three falls behind him at just as many tracks (Mugello, Barcelona, and Assen) where he had made a difference in the past, while Vinales is psyched by his return to the top of the podium.

Yamaha faces the trip to Germany amid doubts and certainties and the hope that the Saxon toboggan will confirm the progress of the M1 before the summer break. Even if the Sachsenring is Marquez's kingdom, Iwata's bike didn't behave badly in the past and, just a year ago, the Doctor was the "best among the others" with a 2nd place.

A podium on Sunday would be a glass of fresh water in a desert of results for Valentino. He confessed of "having questioned himself about everything" last Sunday but also said that he "saw a light during the race" before falling.

In Germany, he'll have to start from that faint light to see if the sun is actually around the corner.

"It's not a positive moment for me ," admits Rossi. "It was really a shame to finish the race that way in Assen because I felt good after the warm up. I was fast, but I got another zero. The good thing is that we go directly to the Sachsenring, and we can immediately get back to work for another Grand Prix."

And to understand if the road taken in the Netherlands is the right one.

"It'll be important to understand if the changes made for the last race will also work this weekend at the Sachsenring ," he said. "I'll try to be competitive starting from Friday."

Vinales: "My victory in Assen seems like a dream."

They say your appetite comes with eating and Vinales' is sky-high. The Spanish rider doesn't hide the fact that he desperately needed a good result after having had a difficult time. First place in the Netherlands was the best position for him.

"After my victory in Assen, I feel like I'm still dreaming," explained Maverick. "We got to the point where we needed that result more than ever, and it gave us the confidence and strength to continue working hard. I'll arrive at the Sachsenring very concentrated and with the desire to show that what happened in the Netherlands was not a coincidence but the result of hard work."

Who wants to continue in Germany.

"The Sachsenring is a good track for us, where I'm fast, so I think I'll have the potential to get on the podium," his goal. "I can't wait to get back on my bike and work hard from the start of the GP."
