Redemption. Jorge Lorenzo arrives in Assen aware of being a talking point, his Barcelona strike still very much in people's minds in the paddock and on social media. The Spaniard is looking to start over. And redeem himself.

I don't know the future, but it's a new weekend, a new track and anything can happen. I hope to have good sensations right away  - he confesses - and the weather forecast looks like good news. We'll probably have a new fairing, which will support me along with other parts. Nothing revolutionary, but details that might help”.

A new fairing is the next step on the Spaniard's journey with the Honda.

“The new fairing is part of the process we initiated with the trip to Japan, and for now it's only for me. It's a long process but I feel stronger right now, we've improved some small details and have grown, but the road is still long. We can basically use everything we tested here”.

During the Barcelona test, Jorge also suffered a violent crash.

“A heavy fall and I was a bit worried because I hurt all over, especially my chest, but the x-rays ruled out any injuries. Luckily I was able to test all the new parts, despite not being in the best shape. I feel better now but am not 100%, particularly with regard to my movement in the seat, I need to get my energy back but I'll be fully fit for Sachsenring”.

And after Germany, the summer break. A chance for Jorge to relax and put criticism behind him

“I've never given weight to these things, and I've always been a rider who's careful about safety. I don't think one mistake changes this, even if I ruined the weekend of three riders. These things can happen and I apologised, and have no intention of repeating the mistake”.

Someone who wasn't quick to accept the apology was Maverick Vinales, who appears to bear a grudge.

“I don't think I'll speak to Maverick again. I said what I needed to at Barcelona and now we turn the page".

Alberto Puig could be helpful in this regard, Jorge speaking well of the Spanish manager.

"Alberto is a person who knows bikes and racing, he also says what he thinks, something I think is very important”.
