Aleix Espargarò's race did not go at all to plan: hit in the first laps of the race by Aprilia test rider Bradley Smith, he suffered two micro-fractures at knee level, one of the femur and one of the tibia.

The Spaniard had to sit out the Barcelona testing and his presence at the Assen GP was also in doubt. And yet his condition has quickly improved and Aleix wants to be back on his RS-GP in Holland. It's looking good, but he will still need to pass the final medical checks on Thursday.

"I've done some intense rehabilitation this week, using all possible techniques and equipment - comments Espargarò - I'm pleased with the results because I feel pretty good, despite lateral movement still being a problem due to the bone oedema. I'm motivated to get back on track at Assen though, one of my favourite tracks on the MotoGP calendar".

Team-mate Iannone also liked racing at the Dutch circuit. Andrea scored his best result of the season so far at Barcelona, but he can't be satisfied with 11th place. The Italian remains optimistic anyway.

"I like the Dutch track and have good memories of previous races run at this historic track - he states - I hope it can be a positive weekend, we had some encouraging signs at Barcelona and will try to improve further".
