MotoGP, Rins: "The Suzuki won't struggle down the straight this time"

"A pity about the crash, I could have been on the first or second row. I'm confident about my race pace, as I'm at the level of Marquez and Quartararo"

He'll be kicking himself this time. Yes, because the mistake he made just minutes before the end of the session forced Alex Rins to wave the white flag ahead of time. The Spanish Suzuki rider, who dreamed of a front row start in front of his home crowd, had to settle for an eighth-place finish on Saturday afternoon at Barcelona.

I'm really disappointed, having crashed due to a small mistake. Without that setback, I could have been starting from the first or second row. I have to say I feel good in terms of my pace though, and am more or less at the level of Marc and Fabio, so I'm feeling confident. we'll see what happens”.

Alex, you struggled with the straight at both Losail and Mugello. Will it be the same here at Montmelò?

“The situation is very different here, as in Qatar you come out of the last turn in second and the straight is really long. I think it will be easier here actually. I've good sensations in terms of grip as well, particularly during the morning. It will be slightly different to normal, but I'm sure I'll be able to push through the turns”.

Will it be a 'bit between your teeth' kind of race?

“I'll face it as I usually do, trying to be competitive. Our bike is competitive when there's a lot of grip, but things change as the level of grip drops. As for the tyres, the soft is definitely a possibility, but we still need to decide”
