Bagnaia-Quartaro. Hats off to these young riders who set the big names straight on Friday at Mugello. The SIC Petronas team rider was already looking forward to being the reference but, at the last minute, the last-gasp effort made by the rider from Piedmont sentenced him to second position.

Despite the jibe, the outcome was a positive one.

"It was an incredible Friday," he began."This morning, during first two practice sessions, I was a bit scared at the San Donato, since you arrive really fast in that section. I have to say that it's the first time I 've had this much fun. I can't help but be happy. I took advantage of the M1's potential 100% ," he added. "The bike is efficient in corners, and I feel really confident in braking. The race pace is also good, even if I have to work harder on the tire for Sunday afternoon. Right now, I've tried all the available compounds, but I'll have to evaluate the choice on Saturday."

The Frenchman's expression shows great confidence.

"Like I said, I gave it my all to be competitive. I expect a very difficult Saturday, since I don't know if this round will be enough to get into the Q2. Apart from that, like I said, everything is incredible on this track. Your stomach goes topsy-turvy at the San Donato (he jokes).”

Fabio's mind is, therefore, already projected towards Saturday.

"Almost all the riders used a soft tire, so I'll have to figure out how to behave for the race. In addition to the tires, we'll have to see what to focus on for the bike and how to make the most of the track to enhance our strengths. This morning, during FP1, I passed lots of riders on the straight while, in FP2, I had the chance to ride alone."

At the end of Friday, the rookies dictated the law, setting Marquez, Vinales, and Dovizioso straight.

"Pecco has done some laps on this track, also thanks to training with the Academy. I think the track is particularly sweet, and you don't have to change your style from the Moto 2. Let's hope Pecco is behind tomorrow," he says, smiling.
