In France, Marc Marquez scored pole position for the 83rd time in his Grand Prix career, the 55th time in the MotoGP class, meaning that he now ties with Valentino Rossi, in second place on the list of riders with the most pole positions, behind Mick Doohan (58).

This was Marquez’ fourth pole position scored at Le Mans, the Spaniard having also achieved the same number of MotoGP poles at Silverstone and MotorLand Aragon.

Marc Marquez won for the 73rd time of his Grand Prix career in France, meaning he is just three races behind Mike Hailwood who lies fourth on the list of riders with the most GP wins.

With his brother Alex winning in Moto2, Le Mans marked the third time that both of them won on the same day, after Catalunya and Assen back in 2014 when Alex was on his way to winning the title in Moto3.

In addition, this is Marquez’ 47th win in the premier class, which sees him tie with teammate Jorge Lorenzo as shown in the list below:


This was Marc Marquez’s 33rd win in the premier class after qualifying on pole position. 43 of his 47 wins in the class came after qualifying within the top 3.

Marc Marquez’ win was the 300th for a Honda rider in the premier class of Grand Prix racing and the 144th since the introduction of the MotoGP class in 2002.

Following the French GP, Marc Marquez has 95 points, equaling his tally at this stage of the season last year, which is the second- highest points accumulated after the opening five races by Marquez in the MotoGP class. 2014 was the highest, when he had won the five opening races and accumulated 125 points.

At the Italian GP, Marc Marquez will be aiming to become the sixth rider in history to reach the milestone of 3000 points scored in Grand Prix racing. With his win at Le Mans, he scored his 2996th point since the beginning of his career.
