Andrea Dovizioso is taking his preparation for his DTM wildcard entry very seriously. Having been to Germany for an initial test with the Audi RS5 he will drive during the Italian round of the championship, he has now completed an intense two-day test at Misano.

Just as he'd told us at Le Mans, a lot of learning goes into driving the RS5 at the very top level, and so the Italian test has been very useful. Dovi must have enjoyed himself, because he made full use of the track time, completing almost 200 laps over the two days.

It might sound like a lot, but significant track time is needed in order to fully understand the car. Audi has provided full support, with roughly 30 technicians following Andrea during the test. Now all he can do is await 8 June, when he will find out what he can do in the high-level car championship.

"It was very important for me to do this test because the level of the DTM championship is really high and there are many things to manage while driving - explains Dovi - It's an interesting experience and very different to MotoGP, and as a rider you have to reset and learn many new things. With the help of the team and Mattias Ekström I've covered many miles to get as close as possible to the front runners. It won't be easy but I don't want to look bad come 8-9 June".
