After the destructive fire, a reaction and the reconstruction. Set up from scratch, the Octo Pramac Racing Energy Ego Corsa was presented last night in Milan, in the Garage Italia headquarters.
A beautiful evening, a beautiful bike, ready to get on the track for an important test that anticipates the beginning of the Enel FIM MotoE World Cup: the first international "eco-friendly" championship of the MotoGP calendar.
With significant and realistic ambitions, the Italian team bets on two riders with different curricula and endowed with every kind of trait possible: the expert, Alex De Angelis, will team up with the young Josh Hook, for a duo that is capable of reaching top-five positions in the six races spread across four events: Sachsenring, Red Bull Ring, Misano, and Valencia.
A rider from San Marino and one from Australia for Paolo Campinoti's team, enthusiastic about the new project in collaboration with the MotoGP: "We're psyched and ready for the new challenge that awaits us," declared Pramac Racing's CEO, "because we know it will be challenging and full of things to learn. We're participating in the first MotoE championship with big ambitions. We want to be the team of reference for the category."
At the helm of the white-red lineup is Francesco Guidotti, Ducati Pramac's team manager, who extends his own commitment to the newborn silent class: "This project is very interesting," said Francesco. "It needs to be developed, but it has great potential. Ours looks like any other bike, but its "heart" is different, electric. The MotoE represents an innovation for everyone. There's still quite a great deal of work to be done. With two strong and fast riders, we know that we can aim for important results."
Trained and eager to ride, De Angelis is convinced: "I can't wait to get back on the bike. I really liked the Energica Ego Corsa and, if you understand it well, the electric bike offers the possibility to make the difference in lap times. I feel psyched and ... electrified!."
Hook races in the World Endurance Championship and enters the MotoE paddock to get noticed: "Being able to race with the Pramac team is an unexpected opportunity for me," Josh revealed. "And I want to repay the team with the maximum effort possible. There are so many champions in the series. I'll try to fight for podium positions."
