It could almost be described as a rematch, although there were no points up for grabs today. Fabio Quartararo put Monday's test at Jerez behind him with reference to the session, putting the competition in line.

"Today was a good day," the Frenchman began . "We tried new components for the future that turned out to be positive. In the final, I looked for the time on the qualifying lap, and I managed to get it, given that the track was really perfect. I believe the Michelins worked really well."

Fabio then talks about the work carried out.

"We had some details to try out concerning the structure and the geometry of the bike," he recalled.  "I then tried a new fork.  Among the many things, I concentrated on the hard tire, and I managed to be fast. I must say that even with the soft one, the sensations were good, especially in the final."

The tires are a primary topic for the Petronas team rider.

"Today we had a new average, and I must say that the sensations were good, compared to what was felt during the race weekend with the same compound. Already with the FP1, we concentrated on this type of rubber, but we struggled. The hard was the most powerful, and I felt really good.

Meanwhile, the bitterness for Sunday's mishap is behind him.

"Obviously, the disappointment has passed. I was in the hotel with the team last night. I was able to relax and reflect. In MotoGP, the details make the difference and, even on this occasion, we noticed it. I tried not to be aggressive during the race, keeping a good rhythm."

His face, therefore, shows confidence, especially in view of his home race at Le Mans.

"Now I feel really good. I think having gotten a pole at Jerez and having been ahead with the best is an important aspect, without forgetting the time achieved today.  The pace with the hard tire is excellent, and I believe I've reached my maximum confidence level. As we know, the next race will be in France. Maybe it'll be more stressful than usual, but there'll be many fans, and this will be an extra motivation."

Certainly most of the spectators will be on his side, seeing what Zarco is doing.

"I don't know about that, since I'm not in the minds of the fans. I expect a positive weekend. At Le Mans, the track has several starts and stops. We'll see what happens, but I'm convinced that we can be competitive."
