MotoGP: Dovizioso: "I didn't expect to be so fast"

You never forget your first time and on Sunday Dovizioso will get to experience this when he lines up on the front row at Termas de Rio Hondo. Not an obvious result, as the Ducati has never looked too comfortable around the Argentinian track. There have been podiums, but also trouble and many points thrown away, so a change for the better is definitely a nice surprise. Especially for Andrea, who doesn't deny that he's surprised about how the weekend is going.

I'm really, really pleased with how the first two days have goneWe've confirmed we have good speed and to be honest I didn't expect that, I know I'm fast, though not like Marc or maybe Cal, but I'm not far off either. Saturday's aim was front row: I've achieved it but didn't expect it”.

You thought you could be more competitive than last year though…
That's for sure, but it depends where you start (he laughs)”.

Can you make any predictions for the race?
I don't know what I can do, the aim is the podium and during the race I'll see if I can fight for something more. The difference is that nwo we have cards to play, we can say our piece. This doesn't mean we can manage the race, but we're in the front group”.

Marquez is clearly the favourite?
Marc has proved to be the quickest in every session, but I think Crutchlow's in good shape. I expect some craziness in the race, from him and Miller. We need to be ready and get ourselves into the right place”.

What type of race will it be?
Not like that of Qatar, but I don't think Marc will try to break away on lap one, I'm not worried about that. Conditions will definitely be different and it might rain, but even if it's dry there could be humidity and so we need to consider a drop in tyre performance. We'll need to see whose hands these changes play into”.

Recently Honda and Ducati have been at loggerheads, has this had an impact on your relationship with Marquez?
On my side nothing's changes, on his I don't know but it would be stupid if it were to happen. Anything can happen between riders though, we'll have to see”.
